Why Carrier Choice Matters

The right carrier for your situation

A final expense policy is a promise your family will collect on — sometimes decades from now. That promise is only as strong as the company behind it. Every carrier we work with has been independently rated "A" or better by A.M. Best, the insurance industry's leading financial-strength ratings agency, and each has a multi-decade track record of paying claims on time.

How We Vet Our Carriers

Every carrier we recommend must pass three tests

Financial Strength

Every partner carrier holds an "A" or better rating from A.M. Best — the insurance industry's most respected financial-strength ratings agency. Stronger ratings mean a higher probability of paying claims on time, every time.

Fast Claim Payouts

We track how quickly each carrier pays claims in practice — not just on paper. The carriers we lead with have consistent track records of paying beneficiaries within days of receiving required documentation.

Competitive Pricing

Rates change, and no single carrier wins for every age, health profile, or state. We re-run quotes across all our partners each year so you always end up with the lowest monthly premium for the coverage you actually need.

Common Questions

About our carriers

Why do you work with multiple carriers instead of just one?

No single carrier wins for every age, health profile, or state. A 62-year-old tobacco-free applicant in Florida may get the lowest rate with Americo, while a 74-year-old with diabetes in Texas may do best with AIG's guaranteed-issue product. As an independent broker, we can shop across all of our partners in one sitting — a captive agent who works for just one company can't.

What does an "A.M. Best A rating" actually mean?

A.M. Best is the oldest and most widely recognized credit ratings agency focused exclusively on the insurance industry. A rating of "A" (Excellent) or "A+" (Superior) indicates the carrier has a strong ability to meet ongoing insurance obligations — in plain English, they're very likely to be around and paying claims decades from now.

Will I have to take a medical exam for any of these carriers?

No. Every carrier on this page offers a "no medical exam" final expense product. Most require a short list of yes/no health questions (simplified-issue); the remainder — AIG and Gerber — offer guaranteed-issue policies with no health questions at all. You'll never need a blood draw, a doctor's visit, or a paramed appointment.

How long does it take for a carrier to pay a claim?

For the carriers on this page, most valid claims are paid within a few business days of the carrier receiving a certified death certificate and a completed claim form. Guaranteed-issue policies typically include a two-year graded benefit period during which the payout is limited to return of premium plus interest before full face amount is paid.

Can my rate go up after I'm approved?

No. Every product we write is whole life insurance with level premiums — your monthly rate is locked in at the age and health class you qualify at, for the entire life of the policy. As long as you pay the premium, your coverage stays in force and the rate never increases.

Is PremierFinalExpense owned by or affiliated with these carriers?

No. PremierFinalExpense.com is an independent licensed insurance brokerage. We hold appointments with each of these carriers, which allows us to quote and place policies on their behalf, but we are not owned by or controlled by any single carrier. That independence is what lets us recommend the carrier that fits you best.
